PRE-CARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR COSMETIC TATTOOING
Proper pre-care is essential for optimal results and a smooth healing process. Failure to follow these instructions may result in complications such as excessive bleeding, swelling, premature pigment loss, color shifting, scabbing, or scarring. Please read carefully and follow all instructions.
GENERAL PREPARATION
✔ Stay Hydrated: Drink 60-80 ounces of water daily for at least one week before your appointment to ensure your skin is well-hydrated.
✔ Clean & Moisturized Skin: Arrive with clean, moisturized skin. Avoid allowing your skin to become excessively dry.
✔ Lip Blushing Clients: Exfoliate and keep lips moisturized for at least one week before your appointment to prevent dryness and flaking.WHAT TO AVOID BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT
1 MONTH BEFORE:
⛔ Botox & Fillers – Avoid injections near the treatment area, as they can affect the healed result.
2 WEEKS BEFORE:
⛔ Harsh Facial Treatments – Avoid peels, microdermabrasion, microneedling, and laser treatments.
⛔ Exfoliating Skincare Products – Stop using retinol, glycolic acid, AHAs, BHAs, and other exfoliants near the treatment area.
⛔ Acne Medications (e.g., Accutane) – Consult your physician if you are on acne medication, as it can affect healing.1 WEEK BEFORE:
⛔ Excessive Sun Exposure – Avoid tanning and sunburns, as irritated skin cannot be tattooed.
⛔ Facial Oils – Do not apply facial oils around the treatment area.
⛔ Excessive Caffeine – Reduce caffeine intake, as it can increase sensitivity and bleeding.
⛔ Blood-Thinning Supplements – Stop taking Vitamin E, Fish Oil, Aspirin, and similar supplements that thin the blood.24 HOURS BEFORE:
⛔ No Alcohol or Caffeine – Avoid completely, as they can increase bleeding and sensitivity.
⛔ No Blood Thinners or Painkillers – Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, and similar medications unless prescribed by a doctor.
⛔ No Pre-Workout or Energy Drinks – Avoid stimulants like Celsius, Red Bull, or similar drinks, as they can cause sensitivity and excessive bleeding.LIP BLUSHING CLIENTS – COLD SORE PREVENTION
⚠ Are you prone to cold sores?
If you have a history of cold sores, it is mandatory to consult your physician before your appointment. Tattooing the lips can trigger a cold sore outbreak if preventative medication is not taken.
Recommended Preventative Measures:
✔ Valtrex (or antiviral medication) – Obtain a prescription from your doctor and take as directed before your appointment.
✔ L-Lysine (supplement) – Start taking this at least one week before to help boost your immune system and aid in healing.FINAL REMINDER:
Ignoring pre-care instructions can lead to poor results, increased sensitivity, and prolonged healing time. If you have any questions, please contact us before your appointment. We look forward to your appointment and ensuring you achieve the best possible results!
-
•Do not groom your eyebrows for any eyebrow service, since they will be groomed at your appointment.
•Be sure to have a meal before any Cosmetic Tattoo procedure.
•Dress comfortably as you may be lying back for some time.
•Feel free to bring a blanket, headphones, or a snack.
-
• Be prepared for the color to intensify and become darker & sharper immediately after your cosmetic tattoo procedure - especially Days 3-5. But this will soften as your treatment area heals, and can take up to 14 days.
• Excessive itchiness and scabbing may be avoided by following proper aftercare instructions.
• You will begin to see results when the pigment fully stabilizes between 6 to 8 weeks, after treatment.
• New PMU brows will go through several phases during the healing cycle. If it’s your initial appointment, do not expect your eyebrows to look and heal perfectly - they may not look complete until you’ve had a touch-up.
• Once completely healed, always apply a layer of sunscreen SPF 30-50 when exposed to UV ray light. Sun exposure might cause the pigment to fade faster.
•Cosmetic Tattoo procedures typically require multiple sessions. For best results, you may need to return for at least one touchup session if it is your first appointment with us. A touch-up appointment will be scheduled 4-8 weeks after your initial appointment.
