Frequently asked questions.

  • Cosmetic tattoo is a cosmetic enhancement on the face where pigment is implanted into the skin with a tattoo machine or blade, in order to resemble makeup. Also known as Permanent Makeup or PMU.

  • PMU is the acronym for Permanent Make Up, which is another term for Cosmetic Tattoo.

  • Lip blusing is a lip tattooing treatment that adds a soft, blushed color to your lips - for a natural, tinted effect. For lips needing color neutralization, correcting, or gender-affirming shaping.

  • Nano Brows are a form of cosmetic tattoo (PMU) where hair strokes are created with a machine, giving a hyperrealistic look to brows and heals softer than Microblading. Great for all skin types.

  • Microblading is a form of manual cosmetic tattooing where strokes are created in the skin with a blade to give the illusion of real hair. Microblading is not recommend for excessively oily skin.

  • Ombré/Powder Brows is a shading technique in Cosmetic Tattoo that gives a soft, makeup-look to the eyebrows.

  • This is where multiple cosmetic tattoo techniques (hair strokes + shading) are used to enhance brows. Gives brows a bolder, yet realistic look.

  • A Tiny Tattoo is a black, fine-line tattoo design we create, that can be up to 4 inches in length. The needle used is a fraction of the size of a regular tattoo needle…such as a cosmetic tattoo needle.

  • Tooth Gems are the art of bonding genuine 18/22K gold + crystal gems to teeth, for a unique sparkle to your smile. Gems are bonded - not drilled - onto teeth and can last up to a few years before naturally falling off on their own.

  • Brow Laminating is the process of shaping + perming natural brow hair to manipulate their direction of flow to create a feathery, fuller eyebrow.

  • A Lash Lift is the process of curling + perming natural lashes, to create a more visible lash line. Natural lashes are able to maintain a perfect curl for weeks - 4 to 6 to be exact.

  • Lash extensions are the art of adhering faux mink fibers to your natural eyelashes, making them longer and fuller and can last for weeks. Lash extensions are unique in that they are attached like your own lash, for a realistic #LEWK.

COSMETIC TATTOO

  • In most cases we are not able to work over an existing brow tattoo because it makes our work less likely to heal evenly or correctly. However we always encourage that you send us a photo, to assess if your brows can be worked with. Or simply schedule a complimentary brow consultation HERE.

  • The needle size and type of pigment used are the most significant differences between the two. Cosmetic tattoo, or Permanent Make-up, uses the smallest needles available on the market, as well as water-based or oil-based pigments.

  • Nope. See you after the baby is born!

  • Even though the needles and blades used are incredibly small, it is still a tattoo on your face.

    Topical anesthetic is used to take the edge off of any PMU service. Most clients would say it isn’t uncomfortable at all, however it’s still important to remember every person has a different level of pain tolerance. Book a consultation HERE for more information.

  • Microblading can last 1-3 years depending on activity level, aftercare, and lifestyle. Color touch-ups can be booked after the 1-year mark.

  • Our machine-made tattooed brows last anywhere between 2-5 years depending on aftercare, lifestyle, and your activity level.

    A color touch-ups are needed after 2 years.

  • The initial appointment is the longest and the most work. However with cosmetic tattoo we must go in lightly with color to ensure the most natural looking brows. The second appointment is necessary for a color boost. It’s better to have to add more later, than doing too much in the beginning.

    With every person having a different retention of pigment in their skin, only a small percentage of candidates can skip their second appointment.

  • All services can be made to look the most natural for you, it’s just a matter of your preference.

    Nano Brows and Microblading give a hyperrealistic approach to brows, mimicking brow hair. While Ombré or Powder shading can blended into a soft shadow effect.

LASHES + BROWS

  • Unfortunately not. Fills are reserved for existing clients. Please have your lash extensions removed prior to booking a new set with COSMOBOX.

  • Lash extension looks range from “are those my real lashes” to DRUH-matic. It’s up to you how authentic looking you’d like your lashes to be! You can wear your set once, or maintain them with fills every 2 to 3 weeks.

    *Those with eye and skin sensitivities should consult their physician prior to making an appointment.

  • If you’ve been regularly getting lash extensions with us, you may continue to book your fills as usual.

    If you are looking to get a Lash Lift or Brow Lamination, you must wait until after the 1st trimester. After that we recommend booking a Lash or Brow Consultation (15 min) for a quick patch test.

    However, it is always important to consult with your physician prior to booking any appointment.

  • Retention time for our Brow Laminations/Lash Lifts are 4 - 6 weeks on average, depending on activity level and aftercare.

  • Nope! Your appointment will include a complete eyebrow grooming for your convenience - overgrown brows are the best to work with. Yesssss.

  • Lash extensions are meant to enhance the eyes and lash line, so clients don’t need mascara.

    For the best results after a Lash Lift or Brow Lam, hold off on wearing any lash or brow mascara for the first 48 hours.

    Everyone has different preferences, so just focus on what you do/don’t want to see. Inspiration photos are always welcome to help give us an idea of what you like most.

  • No way! Extensions shed along with the natural cycle of your lashes - once an eyelash sheds, your extension will shed along with it. Damage is caused by from tugging, pulling, eye rubbing, or sleeping on your lash extensions. Aftercare is vital to the health of your lashes. Using a lash growth serum is the best way to ensure they remain strong.

  • Absolutely not! Lash and Brow services are performed under a relaxing environment, and should not cause any pain, burning, or irritation.

TOOTH GEMS

  • Tooth Gems can last anywhere between a few weeks to a few years.

    If you’d like a gem to be removed prematurely, schedule a routine dental cleaning with your dentist and have them gently buffed off.

    We highly recommend only visiting dental professionals for removals, to maintain the integrity of your pearly whites! We are not offering removals at this time.

  • Sorry, we do not. Though scheduling a routine dental cleaning and politely asking your dentist to buff them off is easy.

  • If your gem falls off, it must be discarded - gems cannot be re- bonded. :(

    We also can’t bond gems onto a tooth that has had a previous gem, until any leftover bonding material has been buffed off. Have your dentist buff your tooth at a routine dental cleaning.

  • We only use genuine 18K/22K Gold, lead-free Swarovski Crystals, and Opal gems.

  • Unfortunately, we can only bond our own high-quality gems.

  • No. Our tooth gem techs have been professionally trained to dentally-bond gems. The dental bond prevents any bacteria from getting behind the gem. We do not bond between teeth because FLOSSING IS A MUST and we respect your dentist!

  • Nope. Real teeth are porous and can hold a dental bond. False teeth cannot.

  • Yes you can! If you wear a traditional metal retainer, bring it in to your appointment and we’ll work the design around it.

    We can’t bond gems onto Invisalign retainers.

GENERAL FAQ

  • We highly recommend arriving solo for longer appointments as space is limited. But there is a small waiting area for your homie/loved-one to make themselves comfortable for shorter appointments.

    Please do not arrive with an entourage unless you call ahead of time and get the ‘OK’ from us.

  • Unfortunately, many services may not be comfortable for you. We highly recommend taking into account that most appointments are over an hour long, where you are required to lay still. We can only work with clients laying face up, on their backs for most services we offer.

  • Arrive free of any makeup on your eyes and eyebrows when booking lash or brow service. Do not wear any oily skincare or products around your eyes/eyebrows either.

    Arrive to your Tooth Gem appointments with freshly brushed + flossed teeth.

  • You may totally have a workout that day. But please, for the love of the universe, do not arrive without showering. We work very up close and personal to you during services. The “Oh but I don’t sweat” spiel doesn’t work. You do, and we can smell you.

    If you have an appointment for a Lash Extension fill, please have your workout at least (2) hours prior to your service.
